Crowns
Crowns or caps are used to cover and protect a tooth that has fractured or is at risk of fracturing. As we chew, the forces produced cause the teeth to flex and over time can lead to small cracks in the teeth – especially around large fillings. If the crack is deep, a tooth may have pain on biting or with cold or sweet foods. Often no pain is present; however, a tooth may be significantly damaged where a filling is no longer an option. We use a local top-notch dental lab to custom fabricate the crowns in either gold or porcelain materials. While esthetically more beautiful, porcelain crowns are more fragile and may not last as long as gold crowns. Another advantage of using gold is the ability to remove less healthy tooth structure. Gold crowns also seal the tooth better than porcelain leading to less decay and fewer replacements in your lifetime.
Composite/Bonded Fillings
Composite fillings are also known as "white" or "tooth-colored" fillings. They can be used in both front and back teeth and are placed in one dental visit. Besides filling teeth damaged by decay, composites can be used to repair small chips, close gaps, or reshape front teeth. The filling material is chemically bonded to the tooth to create a durable filling with minimal removal of healthy tooth structure.
Veneers
Veneers are thin porcelain facings that are permanently bonded onto the outer part of front teeth to enhance the beauty of your smile. Veneers are used to close spaces between teeth, restore severely chipped teeth, straighten misaligned teeth or cover up dark teeth that do not respond to whitening. The veneers are hand-crafted by a dental lab technician according to the specification agreed upon by you and your dentist. The procedure takes two appointments and is usually completed within two weeks.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide or “laughing gas” is available to our patients to help reduce anxiety during dental appointments. Nitrous oxide is very safe because it is used in conjunction with a high concentration of oxygen – higher than what is found in the air we breathe. It does not cause you to go to sleep, but rather make you feel relaxed and dreamy. The effects of the nitrous oxide dissipate minutes after it is turned off.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is a simple, non-invasive way to restore your smile to its original beauty. As we age, our teeth naturally become dull or darker. Food or drinks such as tea or red wine may further stain teeth. Teeth whitening gel used at home can reverse this process and give you a brighter, more vibrant smile in as little as two weeks.
Emergency Services
Dental emergencies are inconvenient and can lead to pain if not tended to in a timely manner. That is why Dr. Low and Dr. Lorenz make every effort to see patients on the same day the emergency occurs. We provide you with our personal home and cell phone numbers so that we are accessible to you at all times, even on weekends. Your health and comfort are important to us, and we are here to care for your needs much like we would for our family members.
Dental Implants
Dental implants have been used to replace missing teeth for over 40 years and are now considered the standard of care in dentistry. Dental implants also help to preserve bone around remaining teeth which prevents future tooth loss. Dental implants are appropriate for a single tooth replacement or for multiple teeth. They look, feel and work just like natural teeth. Unlike bridges, dental implants do not use adjacent teeth for support so there is no need to grind down healthy teeth. Dental implants are popular among our patients.
Dental implants are titanium posts that are placed in the jawbones in the areas of the missing teeth. After a healing period of several months, the posts fuse with the jawbone to form a fixed, stable "tooth root" where we then place a "crown" or "cap." The implant-supported crown appears and functions like a natural tooth, restoring the ability to chew and smile.
